Rockville Centre’s Dunn Named NWSL Player Of The Month

Throughout the NWSL season, Crystal Dunn has been among the league’s top players and a key factor in North Carolina Courage staying atop the standings with only one loss in 16 games.

June was another big month for the Rockville Centre native who was named the NWSL Player of the Month by the NWSL Media Association. Dunn scored two goals and created eight chances to lead North Carolina to a 2-1-1 record in June. She finished the month with 13 shots, nine shots on goal, six tackles won, six interceptions and eight chances created on 183 touches.

Recently, Dunn picked up the Week 13 NWSL Player of the Week honors after scoring a brace and chipping in an assist in the Courage’s 4-1 win over Seattle Reign FC on June 23. This is the second time in her career to be honored as the NWSL Player of the Month. She was recognized for the first time in August 2015.

Dunn’s first goal against Seattle came in the 33rd minute when Courage forward Lynn Williams found her at the top of the box. Dunn settled the ball just outside the box then struck it to extend the Courage’s lead to 2-1. Her second goal of the night came in the 70th minute after Williams’ slotted her through into space and she shot it with her left foot to seal the Courage’s 4-1 victory.

On the season as of July 5, Dunn has seven goals and four assists.
