The New York Red Bulls will hit the road to open their 2017 Major League Soccer postseason campaign, heading to Chicago to take on the Fire.
Facing long-time Red Bull Dax McCarty, New York and Chicago will meet in the single-elimination play-in game on Wednesday, October 25, at 8:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FoxSports1 and UniMas.
The sixth-seeded Red Bulls have a win and a draw vs. Chicago this season, winning at Red Bull Arena in April before drawing 1-1 at Toyota Park. Should New York advance, they would meet Supporters’ Shield winner Toronto FC.
The Red Bulls closed out its regular season with a 2-1 win over Eastern Conference rivals D.C. United in United’s final home game at RFK Stadium.
Across the Hudson River, New York City FC finished the MLS Regular Season with a 2-2 draw vs. Columbus Crew at CitiField. NYCFC for the second straight season is the No. 2 seed in the East and awaits its opponent for the opening of its two-leg conference semi-finals on Monday, October 30, or Tuesday, October 31, with the second leg set for November 5.
For the second time this season, New York City was forced to shift a home match away from Yankee Stadium, this time due to the deep playoff run by the New York Yankees. In September, NYCFC and Houston Dynamo played to a 1-1 draw at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in Hartford, Conn.
Against Columbus, David Villa scored twice and finished the 2017 season with 22 goals.
