New York Red Bulls midfielder Mike Grella will miss the remainder of the 2017 season due to knee surgery.
Grella was scheduled to undergo surgery in early July to address discomfort in his left knee.
The Glen Cove native has missed time this season while receiving treatment. Grella received treatment in March that caused him to miss all of April, and returned to the lineup as a sub against the Philadelphia Union on May 6. In total, he has made eight appearances this season.
Grella has made 73 regular season appearances for the club, recording 16 goals and 13 assists since signing after a successful trial in February of 2015.
