That number will continue to grow as the New York, N.Y., native has signed a new multi-year contract with the Red Bulls. Now in his fourth professional season, Muyl was signed by New York as a Homegrown Player in December of 2015.
“We are pleased to complete this deal and extend Alex’s time with our club,” said Denis Hamlett, New York’s Sporting Director. “Alex is the type of player that fits well in our system. He works hard, does the little things right and has the skills to be effective with and without the ball.”
The midfielder has recorded 10 goals and 15 assists in 95 regular season matches. Across all competitions, he has 11 goals and 16 assists in 120 games played.
“I’m really happy to be signing a new contract at this club,” said Muyl. “I feel lucky to be at such a special organization, one that I’ve supported and played at since I was a kid. I look forward to the years to come, and I’m excited to be a part of this club’s future.”
Through eight appearances this season Muyl has two goals, just one off of his career high. His most productive season came in 2018 when he had three goals and five assists while appearing in 30 matches en route to the 2018 Supporters’ Shield and new MLS records for wins (22) and points (71) in a season.
