Two recipients of weekly honors from the Northeast Conference (NEC) have strong Long Island connections.
This week’s NEC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week is Wagner’s Kristen Bischoff. The junior forward from Massapequa scored her first two goals of the season during a week in which the Seahawks went 1-0-1.
Bischoff scored in the 54th minute against St. Peter’s in Wagner’s 2-0 win this past Wednesday. On Sunday, she settled a pass from Kaitlyn Ross (Sayville) and finished in the bottom-right corner to give the Seahawks an early 1-0 lead in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
The junior goalkeeper from Reinheim, Germany helped the Blackbirds to their first victory with a 1-0 triumph over Manhattan on Sunday. The shutout was her second of the season, as she stopped nine shots, including several from point-blank range to keep the Jaspers scoreless.
