LIU Post Recap: Undefeated Week For Men’s, Women’s Teams

The LIU Post men’s and women’s soccer teams each enjoyed a good week on the pitch this past week, with both teams getting clean sheet wins over Long Island rival Molloy College. The following recaps cover matches from September 17-23.

Men’s Soccer (5-1-0)

Saturday, September 22 — John A. Darcy Field, Molloy College

Recap: Graduate student Lukas Ostermann scored his eighth goal of the season and junior Yohance Alexander added his first goal in a Pioneer uniform during the victory. Senior keeper Oliver Hessner Hansen compiled three saves to earn the clean sheet win in goal.

Women’s Soccer (4-2-0)

Thursday, September 20 — Wilmu Athletics Complex, New Castle, DE

Recap: Sophomore Sydney Pasquarella of East Northport scored twice, and freshman Emily Tirado of Selden scored her first career goal to lead the LIU Post women’s soccer team past Wilmington University. Junior Julia Duffy of Oceanside added the final goal for the Pioneers, which outshot the Wildcats 20-4. LIU Post also held an 8-0 edge in corner kicks and senior goalkeeper Hillevi Eklow needed just one save to earn the victory in goal.

Recap: Sophomore Sydney Pasquarella of East Northport scored her third goal of the week at the third-minute mark off of a feed from junior Paige Sherlock of West Islip. Redshirt-junior Alice Schonfeldt buried a penalty kick for her second goal of the season during the 11th minute to double the Pioneer advantage and junior Julia Duffy capped off the scoring with her fifth goal of the season. Hillevi Eklow made five saves in the win.
