Two Long Island colleges remained highly ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II collegiate soccer polls with men’s and women’s teams from LIU Post and Adelphi each holding places in the Top-20.
In the men’s poll released on September 12, Adelphi sat at No. 3 (down on from the previous week) while LIU Post was ranked at No. 9 (same as the previous week.)
Adelphi sits at 3-0-1 on the season with wins during the past week over Dominican College 2-0 and Molloy College 5-2. LIU Post (3-0-1) also won both its games this past week, 1-0 over Merrimack College and 2-1 over Southern Connecticut State University. In fact, the only blemish on either team’s record so far this season is the 3-3 draw Adelphi and LIU Post played on August 31.
In the women’s Division II poll, LIU Post sits at No. 8, up one spot from the previous week. Adelphi is ranked at No. 16, also up on spot from the prior week’s poll.
The Pioneers, (4-0-0) this past week had one match, a 7-0 win over Nyack College. Adelphi won its first two matches to start the season, a 2-0 win over Mercy College and a 6-1 win over Merrimack College.
