Lake Grove, Newfield, Dynamite

In a battle of Long Island-based teams, the Lake Grove/Newfield Dynamite defeated SUSA B03 1-0 to win the Livio D’Arpino Cup as Boys U-16 State Open Cup champions.

David Cadet scored the game’s only goal while Lake Grove/Newfield keeper Colin Raupp recorded the clean sheet. The teams played in the finals on June 2 at Stringham Park in LaGrange, N.Y.

“SUSA is a very talented team but I thought we had the edge,” said Tim Graham, coach of the Dynamite.

Lake Grove/Newfield received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award, as determined by the game officials. The award’s namesake founded the Long Island Junior Soccer League’s Sportsmanship Program in 1980.

The Dynamite will now represent the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association at the Regionals from June 28 to July 4 in Charleston, West Virginia, as part of the National Championship Series.
