Hofstra’s women’s soccer team closed out a stretch of five straight games away from home with a 2-0 win over Columbia on Thursday at Rocco Commisso Stadium.

The win moved the Pride to 5-3 on the season. The team will close out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Sunday against Stony Brook at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.

Against Columbia, Hofstra got on the board early in the first half as Monique Iannella converted a penalty kick in the 12th minute for her first goal of the season. Jordan Littleboy 19 minutes later would redirect a pass from Jenn Buoncore of Kings Park past Columbia goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse to give Hofstra a 2-0 lead.

Hofstra goalkeepers Jenna Borresen of East Meadow and Ashley Wilson of Glen Cove split duties with each called on to make one save. Whitehouse had just one save on the night.

Hofstra ended the match outshooting Columbia 10-9 but the Pride did not attempt a corner kick on the evening.
