Northeastern University’s junior goalkeeper Nathalie Nidetch of Hewlett has been named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Nidetch, a graduate of G.W. Hewlett High School, earned starts on Friday against Stony Brook and Sunday at Holy Cross and posted back-to-back shutouts to help the Huskies to their first 2-0-0 start since 2009.

During Friday’s season opener, Nidetch stopped all four shots to propel the Northeastern to a 1-0 win over the Seawolves at Parsons Field. She followed that performance with another four-save showing on Sunday at Holy Cross in NU’s 2-0 triumph.

Nidetch is the inaugural winner of the Defensive Player of the Week honor as the CAA has added the title to its list of weekly accolades this season. She previously won CAA Co-Player of the Week honors in October last season.
