The schedules have been set for HBC Impact and Dix Hills Elite as the Long Island-based teams each eye a national championship later this month.

Both teams are headed to Frisco, Tex., for the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Championships set for July 25-30 at the Toyota Soccer Center. A total of 96 teams from across the United States will play in preliminary matches from July 25-27. The U15 through U19/20 teams will play semifinals on Saturday morning before crowning the National Champions on July 30.

HBC won the Region 1 title over Fourth of July weekend for the third year in a row and will now compete for a national title, this time at the Girls U-17 age level. The impact this season was 8-0-0 in the GU17 division in the Eastern Regional Premier League.

“We’re excited to be attending nationals again and representing HBC and Eastern New York,” said Billy Carroll, HBC’s head coach.

He noted that training for matches to be played in Frisco, located just to the north of Dallas, can be challenging given the summer weather conditions in North Texas.

“We’re going to train as hard as we can,” he said. “We need to work on corner kicks and set pieces as we gave up the majority of our goals last year on them. We’re going to try and get as much conditioning done so that we’re as prepared as possible for the heat and the sun. The plan is to play a couple of friendlies to stay in game shape during the next two weeks.”

HBC’s schedule at nationals includes:

  • Tuesday, July 25, 11 a.m., vs Legends FC 00 Academy (California)
  • Wednesday, July 26, 1 p.m., vs. 00 TFCA Alliance (North Carolina)
  • Thursday, July 27, 11 a.m., vs. Midwest United FC 00 Royal (Michigan)

Joining HBC in Texas will be Dix Hills Elite in the Men’s U19/20 division. Despite losing to Penn Fusion 98 (Pennsylvania) 6-0 in the Region I finals, Dix Hills qualified as the Region I representative with Penn Fusion having previously qualified via the US Youth Soccer National League.

Dix Hills schedule at nationals include:

  • Tuesday, July 25, 7 a.m., vs. OFC 98 (Oklahoma)
  • Wednesday, July 26, 9 a.m., vs. Chicago Fire Juniors South (Illinois)
  • Thursday, July 27, 7 a.m., vs. FC United (Illinois)
