HBC Impact is moving on to the semi-finals at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships.
The Long Island side finished play in the Girls U-17 Group A division with four points (1-1-1) after its 2-0 loss on Thursday to Midwest United FC 00 Royal of Michigan. Despite the loss, HBC advanced to Saturday’s semi-finals where they will face Cup 00 Gold of Ohio at 9 a.m.
The Impact opened the tournament on Tuesday with a 3-3 draw against California’s Legends FC 00 Academy. HBC had three one-goal leads in the match, but failed to hold the lead each time. The Impact got goals from Talani Barnett (2) and Gina Giovinco.

Game 2 was an offensive outburst for HBC as they defeated TFCA Alliance of North Carolina 6-0. Claire Mensi had a hat-trick with Julianna Kissane, Talani Barnett and Lauren Mastandrea each chipping in with a goal.
The other Long Island side at the National Championships in Frisco, TX, Dix Hills Elite, just missed on making the semi-finals in the Boys U19/20 division.
Following losses to OFC 98 of Oklahoma 2-0 and to Chicago Fire Juniors South of Illinois 2-1, Elite closed out Group play with a 3-2 win over FC United of Illinois.
