Hauppauge’s Ritter Nabs DIII Second-Team All-American Honors

Misericordia University’s Kristen Ritter, a native of Hauppauge, has been named a United Soccer Coaches Division III Second-Team All-American.

Starting all of the team’s 22 games in her senior season, a year after missing the 2017 season due to injury, she anchored the Cougars defensive effort. The team allowed just 7.9 shots per game and .55 goals per game. Misericordia finished the season 17-3-2 and made it to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament.

Ritter was the MVP of the 2018 MAC Freedom Tournament and was named the MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year for the third time.

During her four seasons at Misericordia, she appeared in 82 games and garnered a host of individual accolades.

In 2016, she was named to the Scholar All-East Region second-team, the NSCAA Scholar All-American third-team, the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic first-team, the All-MAC Freedom first-team and was named MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year.

Following the 2015 season, she was named MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year, first-team All-MAC Freedom, NSCAA Division III Women’s All-Mid-Atlantic Region second-team and was named to the ECAC South 2015 Division III Women’s All-Star first-team.
