Garden City’s Emily Menges is officially back with the Portland Thorns.
The NWSL club re-signed the Long Island native who has been a fixture on the Portland back line for the past five years. The Thorns open the 2019 season April 14 on the road in central Florida against Orlando Pride.
During the 2018 season, Menges earned NWSL Second XI recognition. She started all 17 matches in which she appeared (including the playoffs) helping Portland to a spot in the NWSL finals.
Over her five seasons, Menges has appeared in 98 matches (97 starts) logging nearly 8,700 minutes.
A graduate of Georgetown University, she made her professional debut on April 12, 2014, against Houston.
