Four members of Molloy College’s soccer program received weekly recognition from the East Coast Conference.
Men’s soccer junior goalkeeper Raul Bonilla (Brentwood) was named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, while his teammate junior Daniel Massey was named to the ECC Weekly Honor Roll.
Bonilla recorded back-to-back career high save performances against nationally-ranked opponents, making 13 saves against No. 2 Adelphi before stopping 15 shots against No. 18 Southern New Hampshire.
Massey scored two goals in Molloy’s loss to Adelphi. The Warrington, England, native put the Lions ahead, 1-0, in the fourth minute and tied the match, 2-2, in the 67th minute. Massey added an assist against Southern New Hampshire University on Jason Alvarez‘s (Valley Stream) goal, which tied the score at one in the 15th minute. He has recorded nine points (four goals and one assist) in his first four matches, tied for second in the East Coast Conference.
Carty made seven saves en route to her first collegiate win and shutout against Stonehill. Up a goal, she kept the maroon and white ahead making all of her saves in the opening stanza.
Poetzsch led the Lions with two goals in the Molloy’s 3-0 victory over Stonehill. She put the maroon and white on the board in the seventh minute and then increased the lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute.
