Former Red Bull Pacheco Killed In Native El Salvador

Alfredo_PachecoA former member of the New York Red Bulls who in 2013 was banned by the Salvadorean Football Federation (SFF) for match fixing was killed Sunday.

CNN reported that Alfredo Pacheco was shot to death at a gas station in his hometown of Santa Ana, located in northwestern El Salvador. Police reports said two other people who were with him at the time were also wounded in the shooting.

The 33 year old made 14 appearances for New York in 2009 while on loan. He is El Salvador’s most capped player and played for several top clubs in his home country. He was one of 13 people banned by the SFF in a match-fixing scandal.
