Final National Rankings Include Several Long Island Teams

With the 2017 college soccer season now in the books, the final polls from United Soccer Coaches included several local teams.

Hofstra’s women’s soccer team, which returned to the Division I Women’s Tournament, finished outside the Top-25 but received five votes. The regular season Colonial Athletic Association regular season and tournament champions received, for the team, a season-high 23 votes in Week 12 of the poll.

The Pride finished the 2017 season 15-4-2 (W-L-D), which was highlighted by a 12 game winning streak. Team co-captain Kristin Desmond was also named a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American.

In the Men’s Division II poll, LIU Post (18-1-2) finished the season ranked No. 7 while Adelphi (14-3-2) ended 2017 at No. 14. In the Women’s Division II poll, LIU Post (17-4-1) was ranked No. 15 with Adelphi (15-4-0) coming in at No. 16.
