Farmingdale State Keepers Nab Skyline Weekly Awards

It was a big week for the goalkeepers of Farmingdale State’s men’s and women’s soccer teams, which did not go unnoticed by Skyline Conference officials.

Daniella Ford of Elmont was named the conference’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, while Kings Park’s Daniel Stern was named the Skyline Men’s Soccer Player of the Week.

Ford, a sophomore, registered a .846 save percentage during a week in which the Rams won two of its three matches. The highlight of the week was her 13 saves in a 2-1 win over Trinity (CT), which at the time of the match was nationally ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Division III poll. In addition, she made six saves Farmingdale State’s 2-1 win over Ithaca at the Misericordia Tournament.

Stern, a senior, lifted the Rams to a 2-0 victory at FDU-Florham by turning aside all six Devils shots on target He has a 2-0 record with 11 saves in as many shots on goal this season.
