Long Island native Crystal Dunn has been voted NWSL Player of the Week by the league’s Media Association.
The Rockville Centre-native received the honor after scoring the opening goal in North Carolina’s 2-1 win over Sky Blue FC on Saturday, May 19. With the win, Courage improved to 7-0-2 (W-L-D) on the season. This is the seventh time Dunn has earned NWSL Player of the Week award, the most in league history.
Dunn’s goal against Sky Blue came in the 16th minute off a cross from forward Jessica McDonald. The play began with a forced turnover by midfielder Debinha who played McDonald down the right wing. McDonald’s cross into the box found Dunn who hit a left-foot one-timer that found the back of the net.
The goal was Dunn’s fourth of the year, which ties her for the league lead.
