The U.S. Men’s National Team’s March camp will be the first for new head coach Gregg Berhalter that will include players from Europe.

Ahead of the team’s next two matches in Orlando and Houston, Berhalter has called in 24 players who will gather at camp in Orlando on March 17.

“Our goal is to keep making progress,” he said. “Building on the themes of last camp, building on the style of play of the last camp, but also now evaluating a new group of players.”

When done with the March camp, Berhalter said it’s important that he and his coaches have a strong sense of its strongest group of players heading into this summer’s Gold Cup.

As part of the March camp, the U.S. will face Ecuador on March 21 at Orlando City Stadium. Five days later, the Americans will match up against defending South American champion Chile on March 26 at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. Both matches will be aired on ESPN2, UniMas and UDN.

Locally, three New York-area players were named to the roster. New York City FC keeper Sean Johnson and his teammate forward Jonathan Lewis will make the trip to central Florida. They will be joined by New York Red Bulls defender Aaron Long.
