With three goals in two wins over Big East opponents last week, St. John’s Christina Bellero was named the conference’s women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
A native of Melville and graduate of Half Hollow Hills East High School, Bellero received the award after scoring three goals in two games. She scored twice, including the overtime game-winner, and had an assist in a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Villanova. Bellero would then score the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win over Xavier.
The 2-0 week allowed St. John’s to clinch a berth in the Big East Women’s Soccer Tournament
Reinhardt had another strong week in goal for the Red Storm, posting a 2-0 record. The redshirt sophomore from Scottsdale, AZ, recorded 12 saves, a .857 save percentage and a 0.96 goals against average. She also picked up her fourth clean sheet of the 2018 season against Xavier registering a career-high nine saves.
Bellero, Reinhardt and the St. John’s women’s soccer team returns to action Thursday evening, for the final match of the 2018 regular season, as the Johnnies welcome DePaul to Belson Stadium. First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m.
