Ohio State freshman Talani Barnett of Bay Shore was named to the Big-10 All-Freshman Team.
In her first season with the Buckeyes, the Bay Shore High School graduate has appeared in 15 matches. She has two goals and two assists through games of October 21.
She scored her first collegiate goal and had two assists in an 8-0 win over Morehead State. The midfielder would then score the game winner in Ohio State’s 2-0 win over Iowa.
Barnett’s strong start to her college career follows her standout high school and youth soccer playing days on Long Island. According to the college bio, she played six seasons with HBC Impact and helped lead the team to the Best XI National Championships in her final three seasons.
At Bay Shore High School, she was a three-time All-County player. She also was a 2017 United Soccer Coaches All-American and an All-Long Island selection.
