For the past several years, Long Island native Allie Long has been plying her trade in the National Women’s Soccer League a long way from home.
After spending five seasons with the Portland Thorns, the Northport native was traded to rival Seattle Reign for the 2018 season. On May 5, Long made her first appearance at Providence Park in Portland as a member of the Reign. Playing before more than 16,000 fans, Seattle topped Portland 3-2.
Long played the full 90 minutes against her former teammates and had three shots on goal. Prior to the match, she spoke with Lifetime’s Aly Wagner prior to the match. (video below)
