With an eye toward qualifying for a fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament, Adelphi’s women’s soccer team has set its 17-game schedule for the 2018 season.

Head coach Brooke DeRosa’s team will face 14 Northeast-10 Conference opponents and three non-conference teams including Mercy College, University of Bridgeport and Wilmington University. In 2017 Mercy reached the Division II national semifinals while Bridgeport ended Adelphi’s season in the NCAA regional finals in 2015 and 2016.

“We have a tough non-conference schedule, which includes a pair of teams that have made very deep runs on the national stage in recent years,” said DeRosa. “Bridgeport made the Final Four three years ago, while Wilmington beat us last year and are a talented regional team. We want to be tested early in the season so we’re prepared for a high level of competition both in league play and to look ahead to our goal of making a run in the postseason.”

The Panthers open the season on the road in Delaware as they take on Wilmington University. The home portion of the 2018 season opens when Adelphi welcomes Mercy to Motamed Field.

The first of 14 Northeast-10 matches will be against Merrimack College on September 8.

Last season, the women’s soccer team posted a 15-4 overall record with a 13-1 mark in the NE10 to be crowned regular season champions. Adelphi also reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
