Adelphi’s men’s soccer team got back on track this past week with two big wins. On the women’s side, it was a challenging week as the team had a draw and a loss.
Men’s Soccer (8-2-1)
Wednesday, October 3 — John A. Darcy Field, Rockville Centre
Recap: Rookie Paolo Marciano had his first multi-goal game for Adelphi to lead the men’s soccer team past Molloy College 2-1. Port Jefferson Station-native James Thristino had assists on both goals and leads the team in total points
Saturday, October 6 — Motamed Field
Assumption College 0
Recap: Two first-half goals led the Adelphi University men’s soccer team to its fourth shutout of a Northeast-10 Conference opponent. Paolo Marciano scored for the third straight game tallying the opening goal in the ninth minute. Senior James Thristino added an insurance goal in the 31st minute. Matt Apicella made five saves to earn the clean sheet.

Tuesday, October 6 — at Motamed Field
Bridgeport 2 (OT)
Recap: Second-half goals by Mia York and Jacklyn Lada were key to a second-half comeback for the Panthers, who trailed Bridgeport by two goals at home. Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Hofmeier recorded a career-high 10 saves in 110 minutes.
Saturday, October 6 — Penmen Stadium, Hooksett, NH

Adelphi 1 (OT)
Recap: A second straight comeback wasn’t on the cards for Adelphi as the Panthers were upended by Southern New Hampshire University in double overtime, 2-1. Sophomore Alexsis Weiser scored her first goal of the season and rookie goalkeeper Krista Aliscio of Hauppauge, making her first start in place of injured teammate Sarah Hofmeier, made 10 saves.
