The league offers separate levels of play, with the Elite Division (limited to 16 teams) as the most competitive level. Teams compete within a showcase format offering the opportunity for their players’ potential exposure to college coaches at these events, while also facilitating travel into set weekends. For any additional league matches played outside of the showcase events, the league utilizes self-scheduling to provide the teams scheduling flexibility

Serving as a qualifying league for both the US Youth Soccer National League and the Region I Championships, teams that participate in the ERL also meet the eligibility requirement to play in their State Associations’ Cup pathway to the US Youth National Championship Series.
